Can't raise PH help!

Postby Debbie » Fri 21 Jul, 2006 15:09

We have a small 12X30 easy set type pool and I cannot seem to get the PH to raise, it stays at 6.8
I have added the raise PH stuff many times and it stays at 6.8 according to the test kit. I have also checked with dip sticks and on them the total alkalinity is showing 80 while the PH is almost non existant.
I generally test the chlorine and PH with the liquid tester since they are more accurate than the dip stick. Could the dip stick be wrong on the total alkalinity? Could this be the problem? I read that adding sodium bicarbonate will help. Should I just get a box of baking soda and dump it in?
Any advice would be appreciated.

actually about a half a box of borax will help that problem! Try it!
