Using Citric Acid to lower PH

Hi,

When using Citric Acid to fix a water stain problem, I noticed that as I'd expected my PH dropped right down but surprisingly my TA stayed at the same level.
So when the time came to correct the PH level back to normal using buffer I managed to get a very good TA level. This is some thing I've never been able to do.

Is it ok to use Citric acid to lower PH levels as it doesn't appear to affect the TA level???

I'm hoping so!
