New to opening a pool

This is my first attempt at opening my pool and I have had a few problems mainly learning as I go , I have everything up and running just to find out I have to change the sand in filtration system. Any tips or comments to make this a little easier for me to do or some suggestions so I wont create a problem

After emptying the filter I suggest keeping the following in mind to avoid problems:

1. fill the filter about halfway with water
2. add the coarse sand and spread evenly
3. add the fine sand and spread
4. run the pump on rinse before starting filtration
