1/2 to 3/4" per day leak
1/2 to 3/4" per day leak
12k gal. play pool made by paddock pools in the early 80's or late 1970's. Looks like the pool has some sort of leak with the pump off now for a week i'm loosing 1/2-3/4" per day. Its now below the tile line and is still going down. My pool has pop up system some of the plaster is chipped around the pop ups but not a lot very small chipping. The drain in the bottom has not been used for a long time I have a creepy crawly and can't use the bottom drain with the adaptor that is screwed in to the skimmer. How do I find the leak I don't see any cracks. Would the pool light be the part that could be leaking how do I find out? Should I drain it below the light and remove it see if water is in there?

If you suspect the light you could do a dye test around the light.
The reagent pHenol Red is quite good for this. The #2 solution in your test kit.
Slowly and carefully squeeze a little into the water close to the light and see if it tracks. If not try other places. This process is simpler the faster the leak so sometimes it is worth topping the pool up.
