using vacuum

what setting do you put your sand filter on when vacuuming -- filter or waste? When using waste a lot of water is lost, but having it on filter when vacuuming causes gunk in the sand. What is your opinion?

Check your pool inlets when vacuuming. If the crud is coming back into the pool then you should vacuum to "waste", not filter.
