jet leaking (pool professionals??)

Postby spkennyva » Tue 10 Apr, 2007 14:35

My new pool has just been filled and we discovered a leak coming from a jet in the "buddy" seat. The backfill has not been done yet, so we still have total access to the plumbing. My question is in regards to the arrangement of the gasket on these jets. The builder installed it as follows: jet->buddy seat->gasket->trim ring (progressing from outside dry area to inside wet area)

I found the installation guide for the Hayward jet and it appears to call for:
jet->gasket->buddy seat->trim ring

The installer swears that they have it correctly installed (because that's how they always install them). I can see that you may want the gasket on the inside wet area because then you'll have access to it for future replacement, but the act of tighten the trim ring may also distort the gasket.

Anyone one know the correct installation??

Therein lies your answer then... follow the manufacturer installation and you cant go wrong...

I install them the way they do as well though, but trust your instincts...
