My pool is 18 years old and has a couple of very small (a couple inches in diameter) ablated areas. Other than that the pool is in excellent condition. The surface layer is approximately 1/8" thick and is some sort of quartz (?) aggregate, blue and white in colour. I am picking up a bit of the aggregate in the pool filter. Underneath is a white plaster like material.
