gas or electric

the pool installer is giving me a choice between gas and electric heaters for the pool and hot tub. what's the best way to go for each? i.e. electric for the pool and gas for the hot tub?

I guess it depends on the running costs. Where we are gas costs about 20% of electricity so we naturally use gas.
