how much DE?

I read on other post that only about 50% of DE is sent to waste with backwashing. Does that mean that half as much DE should be put back in? My filter calls for 6 pounds of DE at startup. Should I put only 3 pounds after a backwash?

what he is saying is that not all DE is removed on a backwash.....so if you always add 6# then sooner or later your filter will have too much E on the grids
