Can you build up the base of a 52" pool to make it 48&q

Have a pool with 52" wall - but 48" liner (and smaller children). Can we build up a secure sand base to make inner depth 48" and use existing liner for a shallower pool?

Please advise.

not 100 percent sure but you may be able to build up bottom with styrofoam insulation. I would check with a local pool supplier to see if this would work. styrofoam insulation is used under pool liner in above ground installations.
