blue film on pool surface

Postby mike75 » Mon 21 May, 2007 23:29

I run my pump once a day for 4 hours at night. by the end of the day there is a film over the pool it has no color but when it gets on your skin it has a blue color. It has also left a slight blue stain on the white grout at the water line. when I run the pump for a little bit before I get in it takes it all away. when I check the filter the D.I. in the pump has a slight blue stain. The next day the same blue residue is back. what is causing this film that sticks to my body?

Sounds like a high level of copper in your water.

Do you have a pool heater? Low pH will cause your water to be too acidic which corrodes any copper fittings that may be part of your pool system.

Have your water tested for metals.
