Hello,
In another post (forgot which one) someone mentioned adding SALT to the pump as a way to reduce/remove scale. Is this a viable option? Because scale is next on my to-do list.

Salt as a cure for scale??

NaCl combined with scale, CaCO3, gives you sodium carbonate:
2NaCl + CaCO3 -> Na2CO3 + CaCl2 + Na2CO3
...I don't think that's the best option.
If you want to remove scale, use muriatic acid:
CaCO3 + 2HCL -> H2O + CO2 + CaCl
CaCO3 aka Rolaids.
CaCl aka calcium chloride aka road salt.
on the scale

Lowering ph a bit as I write this. It sounds like a horror movie: It happened last winter. EVERYTHING is coved in scale--sides, steps, bottom in places.
If I follow Me_Too's advice, how long would it take to (dissolve? brush off?), and do I then simply vaccume to waste? Yes, I know I sound like a simpleton...maybe I am as concerns my pretty "pond."
Advice welcomed--I try to take the best, without contrainstraining the rest.
Thanks again!
