Jacuzzi sand filter

Postby Deaun » Sat 02 Jun, 2007 18:16

Hey there!

The man (judgement reserved) I bought my house from says he changed the sand in the filter when he moved in, maybe 5 to 7 years ago. Do I need to change the sand? Several have mentioned adding a little DE to the sand...or is silica sand recommended?? (help--can you tell I don't know too much?)

Any help appreciated!

Deaun

I would say if the filter is still filtering, leave it! If you decide to change it out, only use filter sand from a pool store. Anything else will be the wrong type/size and either not filter at all or leave you with a pool fool of sand.

A little DE added to your skimmer coats the top of the sand filter and catches much smaller particles. Optional if your water is chronically cloudy.
