filter losing pressure

Postby lsschwan » Sat 02 Jun, 2007 20:31

My DE filter will not run for more than 5 minutes without losing all pressure. Obviously it will not filter like this. There must be a leak somewhere for air to get in. Any suggestions on where to look for the leak? Thanks

Gasket, Bleeder, and other things

Postby PoolRobR » Sun 03 Jun, 2007 06:51

If you are handy, take the filter apart and give it a good cleaning, and inspect the gasket. It may be damaged or deformed and need replacement. Otherwise, have it serviced by your preferred pool place.

Also check that the bleeder is present and closed. Check your owners manual of manufacturers website for the location.

Also check to be sure the waste valve is closed tightly.

Other than those things on the filter itself, there's likely an opening in the plumbing or another fixture. Trace all the lines you can find to see if you are losing water somewhere. This will indicate an opening that need to be closed.

Good luck.
