mouse in pool dead for a long time

Postby jeegar » Sun 03 Jun, 2007 21:12

Hi, I was trying to open my pool today. As soon as I removed the cover, I noticed a dead mouse at the bottom of the pool. There was a yellowish greenish halo around the dead mouse. When I scooped it out, I noticed that it must have been dead for a long time, when I was throwing it away, the body fell apart instantly. I am wondering if I should drain the pool or if shock would take care of the problem. There was also a big circle of, probably, black algae at the bottom of the pool and a lot of dead worms as well. The water is not clear and has a weak odor also. Please let me know what I should do. I would appreciate any help I could get. By the way the pool is in suburbs of Philadelphia.

Thanks so much.

The mouse will not be a problem, the black algae might be, but let's try not to.

Is it plaster, vinyl or fiberglass?
What is your pool volume in gallons?

What are your test readings:
Chlorine
pH
Total Alkilinity
Calcium Hardness
CYA/stabilizer
