Is it possible to "overfill" an AG pool?

Yes.

If water is pouring over the top rail, it's overfilled.

Seriously...why do you ask?

Because I am a paranoid new pool owner. :D

Ours is about 1/4" from the top of the skimmer.

Well that sounds like too much. You know the flapper door in your skimmer? If the level is to high, then it wont create that "waterfall like action" which is what pulls the leaves and junk of the surface of your pool.

You probably should lower the level a bit. Just turn your filter to "waste" and let it run for a while until the level goes down to about the midway point of the skimmer opening. Some skimmers even have a little arrow or marking in the plastic for the optimum level.
