What is the best type of solar pool cover? There are several types and thickness to choose from, clear, blue, aluminum coated, etc.

I don't know about color...the silver used to be the best, but now they have these blue/black ones that they claim are great. Any of them are better than nothing, thats for sure.

One thing I DO know is to spring for the thicker gauge ones. When you are dragging them off/on, etc it's easy to catch on things. Kinda like garbage bags...everything is fine until something pointy get's in the way.

Not as efficient and more expensive per square foot. Easy to store though.

My pool cover is blue on top and silver underneath. It's so effective that we have had to take it off for a while each day because the water is getting too hot. Anne
