Fine Grainy Particles

Postby Woods » Tue 26 Jun, 2007 10:35

We have fine grainy particles that keep settling in the corners of our salt water pool. We had the pool guy check it because we thought it was sand. He said that it is not sand. He didn't know what it was. We vacuumed it, but it keeps coming back. We tasted it and it is not salty. It is sort of a cream color. It is not the same texture as the sand in our pump. Does anyone have any idea what this stuff could be?

Rub it between your fingers. Is it grainy like sand or slimy? Have you recently changed out the sand in your filter?

grainy

It is grainy but very fine. When you move the water around it, it disappears, but when the water settles in comes back. It is not the color of the sand that is in our pump. We haven't done anything to it because this is the first summer we have used it.

It's a brand new filter with brand new sand? The reason I ask is that whenever you have new sand, either a new filter or a sang change out, you must back wash and rinse the sand for a good 15 minutes or so to wash out all the dirt, dust and tiny particulates. Otherwise you do get superfine "dusty stuff" in your pool.

I was going down that road, but it doesn't sound like thats what it is.
