if the circulation pump shut down, what happen to drain???

Dear all,

hi, i need your help in this question:

water go from main drain and skimmer to the circulation pump then to sand filter to go out again to the pool.

the question is: if the circulation pump shut down or broken, the water from main drain where it will go??nd what will happen??

i hope there is someone knows the answer.
