New Pebbletec install - color not consistent

[Pebbletec color question]

We just had our pool remodeled. The pebbletec was installed yesterday and acid washed today. The color (Aqua White - which is light blue) is very inconsitent. Its very light in some patches and darker in others. In the deep end it almost looks streaked with a brighter blue and then a less bright blue. Our pool contractor says this is what we should have expected. Can someone tell me if this is correct?

Come to find out they did a bad acid wash and also did not do a good job on the Pebbletec installation (it's actually 'stonescapes' from national pool tile company). Long story short...they are going to have to chip it out and do it again. I'm disappointed but I won't settle for a poor job since I'm paying good $$ for this work. What a hassle!
