Taking apart DE finger filter

I have to clean the fingers in my Dad's old Hayward DE filter. He has always done it but now its my job. I do not want to have to disconnect a pvc pipe which is glued to the filter cover. I do not have the manual and need help dis assembling the filter. I took off all of the bolts/nuts around the top. On the underside are more (much smaller) bolts/nuts. Can I take these off also to clean the fingers and get to the bump handle? I need to replace a piece so that the handle will be able to bump. I appreciate any info you can provide.
