Calcium flakes

I've had an in-ground gunite pool for four years and I'm just now having to clean out the pool sweep metal filter (where the sweep connects to the side of the pool) on an every other day basis. This for the very first time in four years. My components are an automatic Pool Pilot (chlorinator) , Aqua-Docs and an Ozinator. I've (once a year) soaked the chlorinator plates in pool acid as they accumalte white (Calcium?) scaling. Chlorine, ph, total alkalinity all are good & tested from the local pool store. Can you tell me how to eliminate this calcium flake problem?
