Hi! When do you need to replace the sand in the filter?

About 3-5 years of use. You should be able to notice when the filter no longer does its job, the water just won't get clean; or just wait 4 years and replace it.

At the pool place I worked, we recommended you check the sand yearly and remove any clumps and replace what was removed. Change the sand completely every other year.
