Getting Rid of Algae

Can I rid my pool of algae using chlorine only? Or is an algaecide necessary? The pool stores always want to sell you much more than you really need.

Thanks,
Joe

Yes...chlorine kills algae. Algaecide is a preventative.

Algaecide is a good safety net for those times you forget and your chlorine drop to zero, but it is not necessary in a properly chlorinated & balanced pool.
