Outside of pool metal pierced by lawn mower

Hello,
Just opened our above ground pool today and noticed a 3" hole in the side of the aluminum that is about 3' off the ground with a few edges of the tear pointed into the pool. It doesn't appear to have affected the liner although the water level is strangely lower than I left it last fall and is lower than the hole in the aluminum. Pool company said it could be 6 weeks before they can come even look at it. Wondering if there is a way to patch it from the outside. I don't need it to look pretty. Was wondering if I could get a flexible piece of foam through the hole and get it to stay there covering the hole and bend the metal points out maybe. Thank you for any thoughts on repair.

How awful juat waiting for the moment when it lets go! No picture to go on. I wonder if the greater risk is trying to temporarily repair it. The liner is under a lot of water pressure you probably wont move it at all but if you do and it touches a sharp piece you'll have hole or a rip. I can only suggest draining and repairing.
I may not give you the answer you want to hear, but I will give an honest opinion of your situation as you decribe it.
