Changed sand in filter, Water green

Postby Marie » Thu 05 May, 2005 15:34

We have an old pool with a sand filter. We were getting sand in the pool so we changed the sand and laterals. While the pool was down it got a beautiful green color. Now it is up and running and still is green. We have super clorinated and swept. It still has lots of sand and seems like the pump should be needing backwash tons to filter out the sand and clean the water. The pump numbers have not gone up. Does anyone have any ideas? :)

Marie,
Maybe Algaeside? I would vacuum and backwash anyway. Keep shocking. Just ideas.

Sand in Pool

I am not an expert, but this I know, it is not normal that your filter is pumping sand into your pool. You have a problem with your filter! If I had your problem, I would take the filter apart to investigate, BUT, if you are not mechanically inclined, I reccommend you call the manufacturer for advice, which you would probably have to do anyway after you took it apart. GOOD LUCK
