Algae all season long

Postby margaret NJ » Tue 28 Aug, 2007 15:14

Hi,
It seems I am fighting algae all season. I gave up on the pool stores. They made me throw in stuff I couldn't pronounce...lol
here are my nos.
free chlo +10
Ph 7.2
alk 80
cya 100
Could not get my chlor down all season. (too high cya?) I use 3"pucks
First the algae was easy to vacuum, now I need to scrub, (not sure if it is green or mustard algae)
I have a 16x38 inground vinyl with about 33,000 gallons of water
I have a haywood DE filter.
Anyone have suggestions for me
It will be greatly appreciarted
thank you
Margaret :?

stop using chlorine tabs and start using liquide chlorine or bleach that does not keep adding cya.

Empty out some pool water and refill so you can control cya level at 60-80
here is a chart for good FC and CYA balance to keep algae away
