Pink Bacteria

Postby vrichard77 » Tue 28 Aug, 2007 22:01

I have a vinyl splash pool and have been fighting a pink bacteria that clings to the pool sides, under the ladder and the skimmer hose. Does anyone have any idea what causes this bacteria? I have it almost under control. I still have to install new hoses to the filter. I was told it is in my hoses also.

Do you live near the Ocean?
If so some people get Pink algae in their pools and it comes from diving into the pool after swimming in the ocean. I've battled it off an on for years. It usually shows on the walls near lights and ladders etc.
Shower before swimming
Use a strong algaecide (poly 60) or silvercide to kill it.

I hope that helps.
