What am I doing wrong? I spend $75.00 for algae control and shock, follow the product recommendations to the T, run the filter return through the waterfall as well as the wall jets, and still can't keep the pool from getting yellow walls. I use a sodium chloride based shock normally, but used the calcium chloride based shock with the algae control per the container and local pool supply store. The pool construction is plaster and I have a cartridge filter, by the way. I'm wide open to suggestions to get this under control. The holiday weekend is upon us, it's going to be 104 for the next few days, and it sure would be nice to be able to use the pool. :|

Things needed
Pool Gallons?
Filter run time?
Type of chlorine used?
full chemical reading?
FC-Free Chlorine-level
TC-Total Chlorine
CC-Combined Chlorine
CYA-Conditioner, protects chlorine
CH-Calcium Hardness

These come into helping keep algae away.

If you have not cleaned filter could have algae bulidup inside.
If you do not run filter long enough to turn over all of the water every day could cause algae and use up chemicals.
When getting rid of algae, not running filter 24hrs and then cleaning.

When shocking your pool your taking the chlorine level up to above 20ppm. Keeping it there is important for 24hrs or depending on how bad algae is. Again you will need to test 2-3 times a day and add liquid chlorine to keep it there.

Chemical testing is a must
TA-80 to 120
CYA- 60 to 80
CH-250 to 350
