250BTU Vs 400BTU

Postby aestey » Mon 17 Sep, 2007 12:57

Can I replace a 250BTU heater (Laars Series one) with a 400BTU one, or will the extra heating capacity cause problems with the water exit temperature? My pool is 100,000L/25,000G.

Thanks

You would need to check gas line size and how long of run from gas main to heater. Normally they give you the highest BTU's the gas line will allow you to have. You can measure run and look at size of pipe, then go to pool store with demensions and talk to them. Normally when you want to go bigger you need Gas pipes replaced so theres enough gas to bigger heater.

check your gas line size but no it will not damage your or hurt your pool on the exit side. It just heats faster but also uses more gas.
