Ice on pool cover!

Postby dand » Tue 25 Dec, 2007 09:23

Hey everyone,

I ran into a problem this year with my inground pool. Recently we had a huge rain storm right after a bunch of ice and snow. I didn't get outside in time to drain the cover and now it is a huge piece of ice covering the entire pool. Can this cause any damage to the pool? I live in CT so chances are, it is not going to melt anytime soon. Any help is great!

POOL COVER WITH SNOW

Postby GLENNT » Mon 31 Dec, 2007 11:58

I LIVE NEAR BOSTON AND HAVE A SIMILAR SITUATION AT A HOME THAT I JUST PURCHASED WITH AN INGROUNG POOL. THERE IS A TIGHT GREEN MESH COVER WHICH WAS COVERED WITH ABOUT 2 FEET OF SNOW AND IS NOW DIPPING INTO THE WATER. IT HAS SINCE FROZEN SOLID. DO THESE COVERS NEED TO BE CLEARED OF SNOW DURING THE WINTER? ANY TIPS ON HOW TO CLEAR IT? THANKS!

What kind of covers are you using?
