Popping the lid on a Purex SMBW 2048 series filter

Postby alphajack » Wed 26 Dec, 2007 01:20

Is this the best way to pop off a Purex SMBW 2048 series pool filter lid?

Undo lid clamp.
Turn pump on.
Open air release value.
Let all air out until a stream of water comes out.
Close air release value.
Turn off filter.
Open air release value.
Turn on filter.
Lid will pop off.

Who ever told you to do it that way?
Pump off
Open the top bleedoff valve of the filter so it releases any air pressure.
I then open my valves for return and waterfall to let the water level drop.
Now you can unscrew the clamp and if the ewater level is down and no pressure the lid should release with a tap of the hand.
