alkalinity

My test kit requires first, a chemical to turn water green, then measure the amount of a second reagent to transition water from green to red. Since I can never get the original green (it turns red immediatly) I assume the TA is extremely low. Is this a valid assumption?

Yes it is.

Have you tried test sticks or strips. Results are not 100% but they can give you a good idea in a flash.

No, I haven't but I will give it a try. I certainly need something that looks at a wider range than my reagent kit. Thanks
