Skimmer problem

When Pool shuts off the skimmer basket throws up. Meaning water comes shooting back out of it. What would cause this?

Meaning water comes shooting back out of it.

Not necessarily. The pump going off can cause a momentary back surge which can push the basket up. I have come across this often.

The solution is easy - put a stone or similar heavy thing in the basket and it won't flip.

If you put a weight in the basket make sure it is bigger than the port in the bottom of the skimmer in case it drops in.Or just plumb a check valve between the pump and the filter.
