pool will not drain all water

I started draing my pool for some cleaning and the prime on the pump stopped when there is still about five feet of water in the deep end. I have a new hose no air leaks and made sure the was no clog.

Check the pump basket lid for air leaks. Also may be a "leaky" skimmer valve.

You may have a clog you missed. If you drain a pool use a drain pump. Why run your equipment that long just to drain?
