New Pool Owner

Postby Jay Are » Mon 05 May, 2008 09:34

I have a few questions:

I have a 24,000 gallon pool with a waterfall feature. How often and long should we run the waterfall?

The previous owners used Bromine, should we change? The pool is an outdoor, open area pool which gets allot of sun. What are the benefits for using Bromine (I thought it was used in hot tubs only???) Is there anything we need to change out on the system if switch to chlorine?

The pool vac hooks up to the skimmers... should I shut the floor(main valve) off so it will get max power from the pump or should I leave both open???

Thanks,
JR

Bromine is much more expensive to use than chlorine but some people like the "feel" of the water when bromine is used. You shouldnt need to change anything if you switch to chlorine just make sure all the bromine is out of the water before switching over. When you are vacuuming switching off the main drain is perfectly fine. It will give you much stronger suction out of the skimmer.

Thanks...

Is there any minimal time that we should let the waterfall run... I read somewhere that you need to aerate the water, if this is a case how much aeration does it need?

You aerate the water to raise the pH if your pH is low
