skimmer box question

Postby jackal05 » Tue 06 May, 2008 09:12

Hello, I have two questions which I need help with regarding the skimmer box. I just bought a house with an inground fibreglass pool. My questions are:-

1/ What should the water level be on the front of the skimmer box? I have checked to see if there are any markings or a water line but cannot see any?

2/ The skimmer box I have as a Waterco SK104 ( Thats what is stamped under the lid) and it does not have a weir door. Should there be one? I have checked for any holes where a door may have been attached to but cannot see or feel anything. I did a google search for this modle but there are NO search results.

Thanks in advance, David

You may need what is called a floating weir. Is your skimmer basket deep and have a wide top rim? A floating weir is a cylinder that sits in the baskets and floats to meet the water level and creates the skimming action. Water level should be about half way up the skimmer opening.
