Inground pool sand filter

Mr. Pool Wiard, I want to convert to a sand filter for my 37000 gallon inground pool and need to know what brand is the most reliable? I used a Hayward cartridge filter for 3 years and found it was a maintainace nightmare. My pump is still in good shape and need only the filter. Would you recomend the top mount valve or the side mount valve and why?

We usually install the Pentair Tagelus (top mount) or Trition II (side mount). Not much of a difference between the top and side mounts except I have noticed the side mounts leak a bit more, but this is very rare if properly maintained. Overall great filter and havent had many problems over the years.
