Low Free Chlorine in Salt Water Pool

Postby Davey T » Wed 21 May, 2008 14:36

Hey There!

We have had algae in our pool three times in the last two weeks. I have shocked it every time with Sock It. This seems to work but then it eventually comes back. I have been using a test strip and all the Ph and Alkalinity seem to be high and the Free Chlorine is really low. I then noticed that the guys who opened our pool never turned the Salt Generator on so I turned it on.

I had been dumping bags of sand in. The strip still says that the Free Chlorine is really low even though the Generator says that the salt is high.

Do I need to add a stabilizer?

Get yourself a good test kit. I use the Taylor K 2006. Very reliable and accurate. Then post a full chemistry reading.
