PUMP LOOSES PRIME WHEN SUCTION IS ON SKIM

WHEN I TURN THE PUMP ON IT WILL PRIME UP WHEN SUCTION IS OPEN TO THE MAIN , HOWEVER WHEN I GO TO VACUUME THE POOL I SWICH TO SKIM TO GET SUCTION THAT IS WHEN I LOOSE MY PRIME

When you lose prime on the skimmer suction, is the vac. hose already attached?

If not, make sure there is enough water in the pool and the skimmer isn't drawing in air. If the water level is fine, run water from the skimmer toward the pump using a drain jet (device that connects to garden hose). Does the pump fill with water? Look for debris being pushed into the pump basket by the water flow from the drain jet.
