pressure guage on Hayward sand filter

Pressure gauge is at about 20 psi when off; when filtering it maxes out (over 30 psi). The filter is about 6 years old. Replaced pump last year; that is working well. Having trouble keeping water clear (stays) cloudy.

Normally a pressure gauge drops to 0 when the equipment is off. Perhaps you have a special circumstance there that keeps pressure on the filter when pump is off?

Either fully test your pool water or bring in a sample to a pool store and have them test it. Once you have those numbers you will (with some help) know what steps to test next.
