copper in pool and spa

I have copper at 3 to 4 ppm in my pool and spa. The water is cloudy. I've added "metal remover" from our small town pool store. The copper is from the heater, I pretty sure. How can I get the water clear without any additional damage to my heater (no leaks yet). I really don't want to drain it (fiberglass ~ 21,000 gallons and ~ 500 gallon spa).

Ouch, I would really recommend draining. 3-4ppm is very high. Since you have a fiberglass pool you cannot drain the whole thing. You have to drain some then refill but check your fill water first for metals. You'll get copper in the pool from the heater if your pH, TA, or CH are very low. Especially if you pH is below 7.0
