losing water

Postby jtodd » Wed 28 May, 2008 07:20

New owner; know nothing about pools. Filled pool, skimmed out debris, manually vacuumed, checked chemicals. Chemical strip showed Ph low, and instructions said to raise Ph before shocking pool, so we added chemical to raise Ph. Had automated-type vacuum on and lever in filter mode but was losing water out of pool from above filter as if lever was in a different mode. Why in the filtration mode was it pumping water to the outside of the pool?

sounds like you have multiport valve in backwash or waste position. turnoff system and turn to filter which should allow water to return to pool.
