Can I use creek water to fill pool?????????

Postby opn4bznz » Fri 11 Jul, 2008 13:02

15'x25' pool holds about 8,800 gallons. Could I use light tea colored creek water to fill and save money. Dirt from water would settle on bottom and could be vacuumed into big Haywood sand filter. Any experience with this and is it more trouble than it's worth? Thanks so much.

Before you fill go to a pool company and have them do a source test. Check for minerals, especially copper. If you do have copper, treat accordingly. After treating it for minerals then super chlorinate. :)

Actually, if it is creek water go to a store that deals with wells. A pool store probably can't test for many things that should be checked.
