BLACK HOLE IN BOTTOM OF POOL

Postby alan123 » Tue 15 Jul, 2008 21:51

I just noticed a 1" diameter black stain at the bottom of my pool which I tried removing with a wire brush, chlorine and stain remover with no luck.

I then started scrapping it with a knife and after digging a hole about 1/4" deep and 2" in diameter the black stain remains. It looks like under a microscope the gunite/concrete has turned black with a few speckles of white.

I don't think the problem is caused by a rusted rebar because there is no redness to the material and no red discoloration in the gunite

Any ideas what this is?
