Alternative to Chlorine

Postby New Pool User » Tue 29 Jul, 2008 17:06

I just set up my above ground pool and need to start cleaning it. I do not want to use chlorine because my husband is not aloud to get in chlorine for medical reasons. I have been looking into this saltwater thing, can I just dissolve salt and mix it in my pool while using just the regular filter that came with it? Will this be sufficient to kill off algae and bacteria? My pool is 16 foot by 3 1/2 foot.

salt water is not a disinfectant and won't help against algae/infections
SWG generates chlorine out of salt

alternative to chlorine is using bromine
bubba

ionizers

buy a copper ionizer ! you will eliminate all chemicals (except non- chlorine shock) they sell for 225.00 on ebay and the water quality is far better than chlorine or salt generators.
