hose from skimmer colapses when trying to vacuum

Hi, I tried vacuuming my new above ground pool and every time I connect the hose to the vacuum, the hose going from the skimmer to the pump collapes. do i have to hard pipe this line. Is there any other alternative? 1 hp Hayward pump, 21' round pool.
