I have a media master 1600 sand filter and I bought it used. I would like to know how do I use it. I already am filtering, but it has more options on it and I would really like to know how to use it properly?

You should have a backwash setting used when cleaning the filter.

Also should have rinse which you use after backwashing to clear away debris.

Waste setting is used when you want to vacuum a very dirty pool and want to bypass the filter. Water goes from pool to waste without adding dirt to the filter.

You may also have circulate. This is used when you want to circulate the water in the pool (usually when adding chemicals) but don't want the water passing through the filter.

Turn off pump every time you move the multiport valve.

Here is a recent forum message that shows all the things on a multiport valve.
