I am a pool owner that has visted this site for some time. I always thought, "why dont people take the time to read about their problems in other posts or even buy a book before posting their problems!"
Well, I am now that guy. The algae that I can not get rid of. I am on my 5th day and am desperate.
PH = 7.4
Alkalinity = 100 ppm
TC = 5ppm (I know it is high, I went overboard trying to kill algae quick)
BR = 6ppm
My pool is 29,000 gallons. I have been using PhosFree to kill the phosphates, so I dont think that is a problem.
This all started when I shut my filter down for repairs for 2 days, it now works perfectly and has been filtering for 4 days, it has also been backwashed as recommended and appears to be working correctly.
What am I missing??????
I am now that guy.........

You didn't post your Cyanuric Acid (CYA) level and that is critical because chlorine won't kill algae quickly if there is too much CYA in the water. You can read more about defeating algae here. The ratio of FC to CYA determines the amount of "active" chlorine that is able to kill algae.
