thermostat?

Postby miker1755 » Thu 01 Jan, 2009 05:39

Ok Pool Guys, here's one for you. My Spa Heater gets too hot. The difference between too hot & not hot enough is miniscule. Over time it seems that I have had to increase the heat to get my spa hot enough. Now when pegged at max it gets too hot but to crank back the control any, it's not hot enough. I suspect it is the thermostat that needs replacing but would like to experts to confirm or deny or propose alternatives. My heater is a Raypack RP 2100 gas heater. Is replacing it a big deal?

"Could" be a part called the Unitherm Governor. It regulates the temperature inside the heat exchanger, much like the thermostat in your car does for your cooling system. Its a good point to have it checked every service anyways. If your heater is acting finicky and you have a service guy attend, remind him to check that.
